Happy 4th of July everyone! Another solo excursion this week for the Sabbath Sessions as Mizo is tied up getting his affairs in order to make a move. I’ve got some plans to collaborate going forward, wherever this thing goes rest assured the music will keep flowing! And Mizo and I should get at least one more grab bag extravaganza in before he departs for sunny CA.  But enough about the future, today just in time for your fireworks and BBQ action I deliver a mix for your listening pleasure filled with all the sounds you have come to expect from these Sabbath Sessions. I was asked what the theme was for this one yesterday and while not as precise as the previous "Brasil Tapes" edition this one did have a clear line of thought behind it. Given February's connection to Dilla and the recent news of the passing of DOOM we wanted to make a mix that was a tribute but not just another rehash of their greatest works, or their samples, as these have been done ad infinitum. So instead we deliver a collection here that inspired us to think of what these two greats gave us and we hope inspire you in all your pursuits, be them artistic, personal, professional, or spiritual. On October 6th VH1 aired the fifth annual Hip Hop Honors celebrating some of the best artists Hip Hop has given us over the years. To pay tribute to the honorees Mick Boogie and MC Serch teamed up to deliver the Honor Roll mixtape filled with updated versions of the Hip Hop classics this year’s class is known for. With Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Too Short and Naughty by Nature all being members of this esteemed class it’s only right that the king of the mixtape game brings forth another unforgettable tape filled with updated, reinvigorated beats by a strong staple of current heat makers including 6th Sense and M-Phazes and a long list of emcees of every level of stature.
