And another one! I don’t know about y’all but these Sabbath Sessions have become a integral part of my week, from the process of making it with Mizo rolling through and exchanging grooves to listening to it fresh after I finish my cup of coffee and some meditation before uploading it - they are always a perfect reset to a full week and a recharge for the coming one. This week we find ourselves doing typical grab bag shenanigans, jumping genres and styles and just allowing the musical conversation to flow where it may. There is some jazz, some soul, some rap and some off the wall mixes. But hey, it’s getting colder and darker (at least out here in the Pacific NW) so what better time to chill out while chilling in and groove to some sounds! How to take a week off, sometimes it’s good to refresh and revitalize the spirit! Mizo will be back soon, but we got another solo endeavor this week, filled with exactly what you find in my crates - the roots of all things hiphop! I managed to spread out a lil bit and get a few other languages in there and some rock sounds but what can I say, I know what I like and stick to it. Regardless, it’s a journey and it’s good vibes and positive energy all around. Turn it up and light up the BBQ or partake in whatever summer activities bring you joy, this heat and sun won’t be around for much longer but we got no plans of ceasing to deliver you a weekly day of rest soundtrack. Kicking your Sunday off with another round of the Sabbath Sessions! Mizo & I laid this down in our usual manner, free of preconception or concern with anything other than quality tunes inspired by what was played previously. The themes present include an over arching presence of soul captured in an assortment of textures. My rap mix from earlier this week was still in my head and I kicked it off with some vintage Strong Arm Steady gang, Mizo snuck in a tune from a friend of his in PDX. Along the way you will hear a few guitar centric jams, electronic smokiness, a gospel tune, and more random sounds all tied together in the name of auditory adventurism. Walk with us y'all!
