  What a year... 2020 will forever be remembered for a multitude of things unpleasant, but if there was nothing else joyous in these last 365 days there was beautiful music from all angles, all genres, all sections of the globe. Mizo & I keep our ears to the world (read: internet) and we find peace and solace in the sounds happening. We couldn't fit it all into just one volume so we bring you volume two of our best of the year edition of this here Sabbath Sessions. The usual formula, he goes for two and I go for two. Back and forth we swing. These mixes demonstrate where our minds were, what music was healing our spirits and inspiring us to start this thing up in the first place.   Hitting ya'll with another round of the usual for this fine Sunday. Mizo & I connected in the Musik Lounge with stacks of wax and laid down this groovy session for ya'll to ride out your Labor Day weekend with. Mizo kicked this one off with Teebs & Panda Bear before sliding into Talking Heads which prompted me to let "Slave" take it away. Our flow in the Lounge is always spontaneous and without plan, just letting the sonics direct us. This one definitely speaks to a merging of guitars and electronics, heavy on out there sounds. It's fun, different and riveting. From letting Nicolas Jaar play under Bob James to dropping into The Jazz Crusaders out of DJ Screw, plus Mizo's omnipresent love for tunes from Japan and other far out jams it's a journey of auditory exploration - so press play and in the immortal words of J Dilla "Turn It Up!"

"Get Lost" by Will J. A chopped vocal sample plays in the background, my partner reads her book and the world spins. To some out of control, to others it’s unfolding exactly how it is supposed to. We are months into the COVID days and all I know is that creativity is flowing. It’s often hard to pinpoint when what we are exposed to was actually created, we have projects like folklore & How I’m Feeling Now which the creatives behind are explicitly detailing how they were made under state mandated lockdown. Black is King just released and while clearly an undertaking long before the pandemic, it speaks to now in ways that imply crystal ball like foresight. Or, sadly, just an awareness of what being black in America means. The point is that while holed up in our homes we can only scroll, stream & tik tok for so long before our minds need something else - and we all have something creative inside of us whether we embrace it or get paid for it.
