“Suspense In The Grip of Suspense” is a tune off the new Damon Locks & Rob Mazurek album New Future City Radio and it’s a phrase that captures my feelings about the burgeoning modern Jazz scene blossoming around the world currently. The music is filled with excitement and suspense. You never know what’s going to happen next. Much like many styles of music that go through ebbs and flows of change and promising talent, right now is an amazing time to be a listener of these sounds as we hang on to the edge of our seat and listen intently to all the glorious sounds being produced. Whenever Mizo & I get back into the lounge after an extended time away it always feels good to lay down some sounds and see where this sonic journey we have undertaken brings us. This week's edition is no different as we kept the vibes mostly deep, meditative with tributes to musicians gone and sounds of days past, playing with how these grooves might grow and flourish in the context of today's sonic happenings. It’s as if a trance fell upon us and we were no longer conscious of our process, just allowing the tunes to speak through the speakers. Kick back, relax, and travel with us. Selfishly, I always want dope artists to give us more and in today's music industry of constant content that wish is oft granted.
